This is one of the most popular bamboos for screening.  The canes average between 12 o 18 feet tall with large leaves, 12 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. It forms a dense screen, almost impossible to penetrate.  The culms are very straight with nodes that are non prominent.  It’s easy to see why it was used for arrows in the past. For total privacy from the ground up this is the best choice.

I planted this bamboo at a neighbors home about 7 years ago.  They wanted to screen their junky neighbor and Arrow bamboo did the job.  The screen is about 15 feet tall and 5 feet in depth.  It completely screens the yard. They control the bamboo by mowing up close to it on a regular basis.
