This bamboo has a dimpled skin that can be felt with the fingertips or observed with a magnifying glass, like a football or “pigskin”.  It can get almost 3 1/2 inches in diameter and close to 50 feet tall.  The color is a light green with powdery white rings below the nodes on new canes.  The canes reach full size quickly and make a great tall screen or a beautiful specimen plant. Shoots are edible and not bitter.
