With all the tools and equipment for a blacksmith shop we needed some place to put it. We decided to build a barn for the shop as well as storage for tools and other equipment. I had a few girders left over from my daughter’s recently constructed home as well as a number of 4×6 timbers left over from the recent reconstruction of our bridge. I also had a 12″ I-beam. I designed the barn around these materials.
We have a shop for woodworking (that also contains a small apartment). We wanted the barn near the house so I leveled a spot next to the shop. Below are pictures of the construction process.
